Point scoring political councillors supported by cycling activists & anti-car council bureaucracy are hell bent on eradicating cars & parking from our streets, attacking our freedom.
Despite around 87% of residents using cars most politically aligned Councillors voted in favour of the ill-conceived “pop-up” bike lanes, going against community wishes. Much of this dangerous infrastructure was surreptitiously installed at night to unsuspecting residents.
Carparking has systematically been removed over the past decade with the introduction of bike lanes in Fitzroy Street and the closure of Acland Street to form the plaza.
Council has enabled parking problems by allowing property developers to build apartments with insufficient off-street carparking leading to increased demand on our streets.
Residents of Port Phillip united with residents & fought hard to defeat Council’s pop-up bike lanes.
- 35 km of pop-up bike lanes removed
- Prevented removal of 2 lanes on Kerferd Road where existing bike lanes were adequate
- Prevented the removal of 114 car parks in Inkerman Street & damage to businesses
WE WILL ALWAYS PUT RESIDENTS FIRST BY:-
- Fighting for your rights to residential car spaces
- Protecting carparking in retail & dining precincts
- Ensuring planning applications have adequate parking
- Advocating for safe & sensibly designed bike lanes
- Fighting for community rights over activist demands
Vote for our endorsed independent candidates. we will advocate on behalf of all residents & businesses to stop the removal of car lanes & parking spaces.
