WHO ARE THE RESIDENTS OF PORT PHILLIP?

Putting our community first.

Residents of Port Phillip Inc. are a 100% non-political, local community group who advocate for residents, ratepayers and business owners. Our aim is to support our community by representing residents and businesses at local council and to challenge our Councils thoughtless, high spending agendas.

Our mission is to ensure delivery of quality services, responsive customer service and sensible decisions that address the needs of the community and reflect the diverse values of residents.

Port Phillip Council is better served by independent Councillors. For decades, our council has been controlled by state and federal politics, vested interests and councillors have used their position to launch into state and federal politics.

Port Phillip Council now has seven independent Councillors since the 2024 election who are not beholden to political parties and policies. Our aim is to transform Council, improve service delivery and ensure better value for our rates and charges.

We have a growing team of passionate supporters and advocates who want quality council services, sensible spending and decision making and reduced rates and charges.

Our Goal is to ensure Council puts residents first, and stop political parties and minority vested interest groups taking over our Council. Independent councillors who are endorsed by the Residents of Port Phillip will deliver greater transparency, fairness and better outcomes for the whole community.

Voters strongly endorsed our mission by electing three independent Residents of Port Phillip Councillors in the October 2024 council elections.

What has RoPP achieved?

  • Removed 38km of unnecessary and dangerous pop-up bike lane infrastructure.
  • Stopped the replacement of two lanes of vehicle traffic with protected bike lanes in Kerferd Road.
  • Delivered rates relief by passing a $10 million budget surplus back to residents in 2023-24.
  • Port Phillip was the only Council in Victoria that did not increase rates by the maximum amount in 2023-24.
  • Elected two Councillors in 2020 and three Councillors in 2024 to ensure the voice of residents is represented.
  • Stopped the dangerous and irresponsible building of public toilets near the entrance of St Kilda Park Primary School. This was destined to become a drug den.
  • Made the concerns of residents heard in Council chambers.
  • Improved local laws to help with anti-social behaviour and furniture on our streets
  • Our community association campaigned in 2020 to help elect Residents of Port Phillip endorsed Councillors Rhonda Clark and Christina Sirakoff (pictured) and in 2024 to help to elect RoPP endorsed Councillors Beti Jay, Bryan Mears and Road Hardy (also pictured)
