Merry Christmas and 2025 Successes

Residents of Port Phillip wishes you and your families a merry Christmas and a relaxing break. We would like to thank Councillors Beti Jay, Rod Hardy and Deputy Mayor Bryan Mears who have worked tirelessly to progress our key objectives of sensible decision making, community safety and financial restraint.
Our Residents of Port Phillip Councillors have delivered the following outcomes for residents and business owners:
- Improved community safety by endorsing recommendation of the Community Safety Roundtable
- Successfully advocated for new encampment Local Laws
- Successfully advocated for a farmers market for Lakeside ward residents at the parklands on near Mac Robertson Girls School (market will start in 2026)
- Delivered an initiative to activate Armstrong Street during Australian Grand Prix
- Successfully advocated to Victorian Government to restrict closure of Albert Park Reserve to one week not 3 weeks.
- Rejected Planning Application of commercial storage building adjacent to the Europa residential apartments at 170 St Kilda Street
- Helped a resident get parking permit by rezoning of commercial property.
- Advocated to include ground floor retail grocery/food spaces in new developments in Lakeside Ward.
- Advocated to CoPP to introduce and locate satellite library services in Lakeside Ward.
- Advocated to CoPP to locate resident activity centres in Lakeside Ward.
- Successfully delivered increased private rubbish collection rebate to ratepayers in apartment buildings etc.
- Successfully advocated for Pedestrian outstand street crossings in Arthur Street and Leopold Street and Queens Lane.
- Successfully advocated for identifying and commencing planning for increased green spaces within Lakeside Ward.
- Planning for “Pocket Park” installations in Lakeside Ward with focus on increased canopy cover.
Finally, our aim is to represents residents who want the City of Port Phillip to deliver sensible outcomes, prioritise quality services within a financially responsible budget. In early 2026, to coincide with the development of the 2026-27 Budget, we will commence publication of articles that highlight wasteful spending in the Council’s budget.
We will continue to report on decisions made by the Port Phillip Council in 2026, and we will share information about our diverse community.
