Bryan Mears Your Independent Candidate for Lakeside Ward

The most important thing for a healthy local community is the independence of its council.

WHY AM I STANDING AS A CANDIDATE?

The most important thing for a healthy local community is the independence of its council.

I am running for Council in Lakeside Ward. I live in an apartment building on Queens Lane. As a local resident of Lakeside Ward, I am prepared and able to dedicate my time and energy focusing on our local community.

My extensive business career extends across a range of management responsibilities, encompassing company management, Boards of Directors, Managing Director positions in national and international companies.

I have spent the last two years advocating on behalf of Queens Lane residents to the Port Phillip Council. I have raised awareness of poor traffic management, safety, and the ongoing development and redevelopment of sites along Queens Lane, extending from Toorak Road to the St. Kilda Junction.

The inaction and disinterest from Council to our community’s needs have motivated me to do more. I believe I can do much more for our Community as Councillor for Lakeside Ward.

My aim is to put residents first and politics last.

MY KEY PRIORITIES ARE:

  1. Put Residents First - To be truly independent by listening to the whole community: residents, traders, renters and ratepayers instead of pandering to vested minority interests
  2. Community Engagement – Introduction of regular Lakeside Community Meetings with me to enable residents to fully express concerns, issues and review progress on key programs.
  3. Immediate rates freeze – An immediate rate freeze by finding efficiencies without cutting services. Holding council accountable for excessive spending - $250M and bloated bureaucracy of 850 staff.
  4. Customer Service – Improve Council’s customer service and to meet the needs of residents.
  5. Improve Traffic Management – By advocating for resident’s rights in relation to demolition/ construction projects in Lakeside Ward, with a focus on better maintained and cleaner roads, more parking access and traffic flow.

I look forward to meeting you and listening to your issues and expectations for a better future in Port Phillip.
