WHY AM I STANDING AS A CANDIDATE?

I am running for Council in South Melbourne Ward because I believe in the power of an independent council to foster a healthy local community.

I live in the Domain Precinct, South Melbourne, and run my own fashion agency, selling women’s shoes & accessories. My business thrives on strong communication & customer service, skills I will bring to the council.

As an active member of our community, I regularly advocate for cleaner, safer streets. I offer free self-defence classes to women, empowering them to feel safe in our neighbourhood. In my spare time, I volunteer with local charities to provide food and dignity to those experiencing food insecurity and homelessness. I also lead a group called Parking Rights Port Phillip, which fights for fair and accessible parking for all residents and visitors.

My Mission: Council has been hijacked by politics. It’s time to restore democracy, elect independent representatives who like myself will bring common sense solutions and unity to our community. My aim is to put residents first and politics last.

MY KEY PRIORITIES ARE:

  1. Community Engagement – I will reinstate Town Hall Meetings to give everyone a voice in our democracy.
  2. Connecting People and Policies – I will ensure that policymakers understand the true needs of our community.
  3. Parking Reform – I will advocate for fair and inclusive parking policies that address the diverse needs of our community.
  4. Cutting Red Tape – I will improve communication and customer service to support our community more effectively.
  5. Clean and Safe Streets – I will work to protect our community and traders by creating cleaner, safer, and more accessible streets.
  6. Preserving Our Village Vibe – I will support sustainable new developments that retain our unique local charm.
  7. Financial Responsibility – I will review spending to find efficiencies without cutting services. A rate freeze will bring cost-of-living relief to renters, businesses, and ratepayers.
  8. Green Spaces – I will promote the creation of community gardens and dog-friendly areas with water bowls & poo bags.

I look forward to meeting you and listening to your issues and expectations for a better future in Port Phillip.
